In John 4, it is recorded that after the Samaritan woman met Jesus and talked with him that she left her water jar and went away and talked to the people about Jesus. Jesus had introduced this woman to “living water,” this is something she had not heard about before and was confused at one point to what exactly Jesus was even talking about. But she soon figured it out and she had to share her experience with Jesus, with other people in town. John records in chapter 4:39, “Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony.” She could not keep it to herself, she had to go share Jesus.
I think this is a great example of what sharing Jesus is all about. It is simply knowing what Jesus has done for us and sharing that with others. The woman at the well helped people to see Jesus because of her testimony. A testimony is simply a spoken statement. In her case, it was about Jesus and what He has said to and “He told me all that I ever did.” That was her testimony. John writes in verse 41, “And many more believed because of his word.” It is truly remarkable to see this woman’s enthusiasm about Jesus.
We all have a testimony that we can share about what Jesus has done for us and we can share that with others like the woman in John 4. Sharing Jesus is that simple. Do we take the opportunity to share Jesus with others? What kind of enthusiasm do we have, about wanting others to know about Jesus and His saving power and how he can change people’s lives? The woman in John 4 knew very little but she still took every opportunity she had to share Jesus with others. Many people believed because of her testimony. Let’s start today sharing Jesus with others.
