In Colossians 1:10, Paul writes, “so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;..” The one phrase in this verse that I feel is important to consider is, “to please Him in all respects.”
As God ’s children, our number one goal must always be to please Him in all respects. Whatever we do in our lives as Christians we must always be pleasing to God. I feel that sometimes as Christian we worry about letting ourselves down, or our family, or other Christians. But do we ever stop and think that it is not about anyone but God. We must always strive to not let God down with the way we live.
When we think about how we worship, the first thing that we must ask, “is it pleasing God?” Jesus said in John 4:24, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” God wants us to worship Him in a way that pleases Him. We cannot worship Him anyway that we want to, it must be pleasing to God.
What about our marriage is it pleasing to God? Are we as Christians taking the necessary step to make our marriages pleasing to God? After all that is what is important. If you are in the process of marrying someone, you must ask yourself and ask God, “Is this what God wants?”
What about our life as a whole, is it pleasing to God? When we look at our life and see what we are doing in our daily lives, can we honestly say that we are living a life that is pleasing to God?
I think that every day of our lives we need to check ourselves and make sure that the life we are living is one that is pleasing to God. The way that we keep our lives in line with God is by living according to His word. His word is a sure guide for our lives, worship and our marriages. If you are not living a life that is pleasing to God, then today is the day to make a change. Every day we need to ask ourselves the same question, “Am I pleasing to God?”
