When an employer is needing help at their place of business, most of the time they will put out a sign that says, “Help Wanted.” This is to let people know that they are in need of people to work for them. They are needing people that are willing to help them and to work for them so that their business can serve others.
The same is true for the Lord’s church. God in His word has put out a sign that says, “Help Wanted.” God is looking for people who are willing to work and to serve so that the church can grow and serve others as well. Jesus in His time on this earth in his ministry answered the call of God and was willing to serve and do what God asks him to do. In John 6: 38, Jesus said, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.” You see God put out the “help wanted” sign and Jesus was willing to give up everything to answer His call.
Today, the church is in need of some help. God wants his people to serve and to work in the church. So many times, in the church today, the ministers or shepherds or the deacons are expected to do all the work while a lot of the members just sit on the pews. This was not God’s design for the church. In I Peter 4:10, Peter said, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…” We also read in Ephesians 4: 11, “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” Paul was wanting the church at Ephesus to know they had work to do.
God is saying today, “Help Wanted.” There is so much to do in the church and helping to serve others. In order for the church to grow it will take everyone working together. Don’t wait for others to do the work, just get busy. Will you answer God’s call of “Help Wanted?”
