Turn on the Light!
You have come to a long, dark, unfamiliar hallway. On the right side of the entrance, there is a light switch. However, instead of turning on the light, you decide to stumble down the hallway in total darkness. Why? It’s not necessary. There’s a much better option. Turn on the light.
But maybe you want to stumble down the dark hallway because you don’t want to expend the energy, or take the time, to turn on the light. Maybe you think you know where you’re going and don’t need it. Or maybe you just don’t think there will be any problems.
Some people go through life without turning on the light. They travel through this world of darkness unaware of what lies ahead, and have no idea how to handle it.
The psalmist, in Psalm 119:105, wrote that God has given us a better option,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”Psalm 119:105
If God has been so gracious to provide us with light that dispels the darkness, why do we refuse to take advantage of all its illumination? Why do we not turn on the light – open the pages of the Bible, God’s Word, read His guiding message, reflect on His wisdom, and live accordingly?
